Ronald Vernimmen, Director & Technical Adviser
Ronald is an environmental scientist (MSc) specialized in spatial analysis and modelling with a focus on SE Asia since 2001. He has led major research exercises combining LiDAR, other remote sensing sources and field surveys in innovative ways, some of which is demonstrated in science publications on elevation model (DTM) development, peat mapping and peat carbon quantification. Ronald worked with Deltares from 2007 to 2020, held a Research Associate position with National University of Singapore, and set up Data for Sustainability in 2020.

Aljosja (Al) Hooijer, Strategy Adviser
Al is a geologist (MSc) and hydrologist (PhD) with over 30 years of work experience in more than 25 countries. He has wide experience in water resources management, wetland/peatland sciences and conservation management. Since 2005, he has focused increasingly on developing and leading science-based management support projects for lowland peatlands in SE Asia, yielding numerous leading science publications. Al was employed by Deltares from 1999 to 2023, held a Research Professor position with National University of Singapore 2000-2024, and joined Data for Sustainability in 2023.
